LOCAL PROJECTS. BIG IMPACT.

Building geothermal energy abundance from the ground up.

Homegrown power at scale

At Baseload Power U.S., we develop and operate geothermal power projects that deliver reliable, domestic energy around the clock – unaffected by weather, season, or time of day. By combining a portfolio of local 5-50MW projects, we create a scalable development model that reduces project risk, improves repeatability, and lowers costs.

Backed by leaders in the energy and technology sectors, including Breakthrough Energy, Chevron and Google, we use mature hydrothermal technology with decades of operational success, enabling rapid deployment at lower risk with minimal water usage.

We see geothermal development as a long-term partnership with landowners and communities. Geothermal power plants boast a 30+ year life, a compact footprint, and low disturbance to the local environment. Our team has a strong track record of working closely with communities, sharing benefits, and ensuring projects support local priorities while strengthening energy security and affordability.

Our projects

We have a strong pipeline of projects across the western United States, including 30-60 MW in planning for drilling
or construction.

Weepah

Weepah Hills is located in Esmeralda County in southwestern Nevada, a predominantly rural county with no existing geothermal power plants. The project comprises several federal geothermal leases covering 12,134 acres, acquired by Baseload Power U.S. from the BLM between 2020-2023.

Power generation potential of 30MW at Weepah Hills is supported by a substantial body of data collected from the 1970s-2010s and a follow-on geological, geophysical and geochemical survey program completed by Baseload Power U.S. in 2022-2023.

Permitting and drill planning for Weepah Hills is underway.

Western Basin

Project Western Basin is located in Nevada. The site area is comprised of both private and federal land leases covering 6,300 acres. The geothermal potential is supported by a substantial body of data. Geophysical and geochemical surveys and shallow drilling indicate reservoir temperatures of 285-320°F at depths ~5,000 ft, suitable for up to 30MW power generation.

We are planning drilling using a first-in-U.S. dual-purpose well concept to improve cost efficiency and accelerate delivery relative to conventional resource-verification approaches.

Wendel

Wendel is a low-temperature geothermal power plant located in Lassen County, California. The site had been active for more than 30 years. Baseload Power U.S. acquired the site as a re-powering opportunity and is exploring potential for expansion.

San Ardo

In 2022, we completed our first U.S. project in partnership with Chevron, using waste hot water from oil and gas wells at Chevron’s San Ardo field in California to generate power for field operations. This was the first U.S. deployment of modular ORCAN power generating technology, demonstrating Baseload’s ability to execute innovative, first-of-a-kind geothermal developments through strong industry collaboration and practical commercialization pathways.
